Why we love cows
Cows are truly remarkable animals, widely recognized for their gentle nature, impressive intelligence, and strong social bonds. They are known to form close friendships within their herds, remember individual faces even after long intervals, and demonstrate incredible care and dedication as mothers. With their excellent spatial memory, cows can recall the locations of water sources, shelter, and feeding spots, and are capable of recognizing more than 50 members of their herd by sight and sound. Their social structure is notably complex, with leadership roles earned through a combination of intelligence, confidence, and social skills, rather than strength alone.
Cows are surprisingly curious and affectionate creatures; they enjoy listening to music, cuddling close with one another, and nuzzling against their human caretakers. They particularly appreciate gentle loving touches such as belly rubs and ear scratches, which help reinforce their trust and comfort. Mentally, cows thrive on challenges and have an understanding of cause and effect, which has been demonstrated by their ability to learn how to unlock their stalls when the opportunity arises. Despite their large size, cows are sensitive to praise and encouragement and can relearn to trust humans even after negative or traumatic experiences.
